September 21, 40 Days for Life Kickoff Rally

You are invited to attend the 40 Days for Life Kickoff Rally on Saturday, September 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Church on 7501 Adelphi Road in Hyattsville, Maryland.

We meet in the school adjacent the church, in the Monsignor Albert Room located on the end of the building nearest the Church. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. with free light refreshments and the program starts at 10 a.m.

The keynote speaker is Leslie Dean, a registered nurse, pastoral counselor, author and speaker, who serves as the Maryland and Delaware Regional Coordinator for the Silent-No-More Awareness campaign. Ms. Dean is a behavioral health counselor and an editor for the Daily Signal. On May 19 this year she published an article “Here’s why I support Alabama’s Pro-Life Law” that received 521 comments in less than three months.  She has also written a great Christian-based novel, “Forgiven Much.”

No registration is required, just plan to attend and bring a friend! If you have questions, or want to let us know you will be attending, .

The Fall 40 Days campaign runs from September 25 through November 3. Its theme is “Abortion Harms All.” To learn more about the College Park campaign, visit 40daysforlife.com/local-campaigns/college-park/

September 29, Study of Saints Book Discussion

A book club, “Study of Saints” meets on Sunday, September 29 from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Delacroix Conference Room at Our Lady of Lourdes Church on 7500 Pearl Street in Bethesda, Maryland. (The book club meets on the fifth Sundays as they occur through the year, typically every third month.)

In this book club, we will read works by or about Saints. Through this Study of Saints (SoS), we will learn about the martyrs and religious who have dedicated their lives to God and learn for whom they are the Patron Saints. By knowing our patron Saints, we can understand better whose constant intercession we can rely upon in sending our own SOS.

The book to be discussed this month is Joan of Arc by Mark Twain, published by Ignatius Press (1989). If you have questions or want more information, .
